The Statue in the Well and the Blinded Hussites
Anenské náměstí
Another legend attests that whenever the Hussites later meant to pull down this convent, they were so blinded by a wonder that they could never find the door inside. It is also related that the Hussites cast into the convent well a stone statue of the Mother of Sorrows with the body of Christ in her lap; in the fall, however, Christ's head was broken off and the headless body floated on the water in the well. When the statue was drawn up out of the well years afterwards, they found the head together with the body — only on the neck a scar could be seen. As late as 1776 that statue was in the church and greatly venerated; what became of it is not known.
