The Beam in the Spring

And at that a spring gushed forth swiftly and proved far more abundant than it had been before. Then the bishop said: 'This is the will of God; let us therefore return, and tomorrow at this hour let us stand on this spot with workmen and do what it pleases the Lord God to have done.' The next day they founded a house of God and brought in brethren of the order of Saint Benedict. And because they had found a beam in that spring, they gave the monastery the name Břevnov — and to this day it bears the emblem of a beam with three knots on a red field.
