The Black Cupid
Betlémská
The house At the Black Cupid, with its statuette of the Virgin Mary, juts far out into the street. A baroness is said to have lived here who, after being widowed, travelled about the world. In Constantinople, at the slave market, she saw a black boy of unusual beauty; she bought him and brought him back with her to Prague. She grew so fond of him that she called him her black Amor or Cupid — and in her will she made him her heir as well.
