The White Lady and the Treasure in the Cellar
Celetná
Of the Sixt house I have found this tale as well. Long ago a poor innkeeper lived here. However hard he tried, his trade would not prosper, and so he prayed for help to Saint John of Nepomuk, his patron. That night a white lady appeared to him, led him down into the deep cellar, pointed her finger at one corner and vanished. The innkeeper, a quick-witted man, understood and set to digging in that spot — and indeed he dug up a great treasure of gold and silver money. He regarded this good fortune as help from Saint John, and therefore divided the treasure into three parts: with one he bought a statue of his patron for the Týn church, the second part he gave away to the poor, and only the third he kept for himself. But even so he had enough.
