Content warning: execution

According to the legend the heads of the lords beheaded in 1621, which until then had hung on the bridge tower, were secretly buried here near the bell tower in the night after 30 November 1631. Only a few of those present knew the place where they were laid, and they never revealed it. But since then, it is said, every year on 21 June, as soon as midnight strikes, the executed lords rise from the grave. They pray before the altar and set out on a nocturnal pilgrimage as far as the town hall, where they look at the astronomical clock: as long as it runs, it is said, things go well for the Bohemians. And when they have gazed upon the place of execution, they return to the tomb.
