The Cross Full of Nails
Hradčanské náměstí
Content warning: suicide
Nearer the royal castle there stood a tall wooden cross on which someone is said to have hanged himself. From that time travelling blacksmiths' journeymen used to drive iron nails into it, so that the suicide should feel a fresh pain in hell each time. In time, therefore, the cross was full of nails — and the journeymen believed that by driving in a nail they would gain greater strength.
