Lightning at the Drowned Man's Funeral
Husova
On 28 June 1432 lightning struck the church of Saint Giles and killed a woman who was that very day burying her drowned husband; the whole roof burned then and all the bells were destroyed. Because the damage was great, the parishioners sent messengers about the towns and estates to ask for contributions — a letter of introduction for such messengers from the year 1449 is preserved in this church's archive. The roof of the church is said to have been built by the distinguished master carpenter Mikuláš.
