The Bloody Stairs
Jiřská
Content warning: execution
A staircase leads up into the main building within a tower-like structure, its steps of stout beams being very ancient. In the larger hall the Judgement of Solomon is painted on the ceiling — for the burgrave's courts were held here. And from another hall a passage led to the so-called Bloody Stairs, where the condemned man is said to have been executed as soon as he was brought out of the courtroom. The body was then thrown into the cellar, which is hewn out of the rock along the whole length of the building.
