The Sword from the Hermit and Flames to Blaník
Karlův most
By another legend the Emperor Charles IV had the statue set up in honour of the bridge's builder, who walled into that pier a miraculous sword he had received abroad from a hermit. When evil days come upon Bohemia, the sword will burst the stonework of itself and rise in flames as far as the hill of Blaník, so that the knights may rouse themselves to the help of the Czechs.
