The Candlestick from Solomon's Temple
Katedrála svatého Víta
On a marble pedestal there stands here a splendid piece of work, the so-called Jerusalem candlestick, which according to legend comes from the Temple of Solomon. For when the Romans took Jerusalem in the year 63, the Milanese carried it off with other booty — and it is said to have been brought to us from Milan in 1162. The pedestal was added to it in 1395 and the ill-suited upper part in 1641.
