The King's Daughter's Silken Rope
Katedrála svatého Víta
Of that great bell Svátek relates this tale: when they wished to haul it up into the tower, even stout chains snapped like threads, and in vain did the king summon builders and craftsmen to devise something. Then the king's daughter, a maiden of great learning, put together a machine and hauled the bell up with a silken rope she had woven herself — turning the crank with her own hands.
