The Lamp That Came Back by Itself
Katedrála svatého Víta
When a poor Prague goldsmith once saw that golden lamp, he conceived a longing for it; and for three nights afterwards he dreamed that Saint John of Nepomuk appeared to him and told him to take that lamp. So he stole it by night, broke it up and sold it. From that time things went better with him, so that he was able to hang a new lamp there — but when he came into the church he found the old lamp there, miraculously replaced, so that his theft should not be discovered.
