Milk Instead of Blood
Kostel svaté Kateřiny
Content warning: execution
Two Czech legends of Saint Catherine survive from the fourteenth century, the longer Stockholm one and the shorter Brno one. Her learning is said to have been such that she converted fifty philosophers to the faith; for this the faculty of philosophy in Prague and the whole university of Paris chose her as their patron, and she is the protectress of students. When she was to be broken on the wheel for her faith, an angel tore her bonds apart; so she was executed by the sword in 307, but instead of blood milk sprang from her throat.
