The King Draws His Sword on Fantinus
Králodvorská
The next day Fantinus was summoned before the king's inner council to give an account of his service. But when he boldly declared that he had left the king's service — though he had drawn the king's pay until then — because, he said, he had found that the king spoke one way and acted another, George flew into a rage, drew his sword and cried: “I can scarcely keep from running you through on the spot.” But he mastered himself, laid the proofs of Fantinus's guilt before the council, took him into his own custody and ordered him put in the prison of the Old Town hall. Fantinus was afterwards held at Poděbrady, but soon released; he remained the king's enemy, and at the diet of Nuremberg in 1466 he opposed admitting the Bohemian heretics to the council against the Turks. What became of him later is not known.
