The Fiery Dog on the Way to Loreta

Loretánská

Historically
bývalá radnice hradčanská, č. 173-1 v Loretánské ulici
Told by
Václav Krolmus

Krolmus recorded that a black fiery dog walks from here to Loreta between eleven and twelve at night, and that it will walk beside people too. He was told this by the local butcher Josef Kratochvíle, whom the dog is said to have escorted as well. The house in question is the former Hradčany town hall, recognisable by the Austrian eagle, the date 1786 and the tavern — for in the countryside there is still a tavern in the town hall. The Bohemian ell is set into it too, as at the New Town hall, only here not in the wall but low down in the gateway.
