Three Proud Sisters and One Bridegroom

Malé náměstí

Historically
dům u tří bílých růží na Malém náměstí

A legend is told of that house. Three sisters once lived here, girls who were beautiful but proud, and who after their mother's death fell into such discord that they did not speak to one another and each kept to her own floor. All of them dreamed of noble and wealthy bridegrooms. And indeed an unknown gentleman came for each of them, passing himself off as a count, as a lord, as a prince, and all three were married within three Sundays and went abroad. But these, they say, were not three bridegrooms at all, but a single adventurer who in this way got hold of the money and jewels of all three proud girls — and they died abroad in poverty. The house then stood empty for a long time and was named At the Three White Roses.
