The Iron Maiden and the Starvation Pit
Mihulka
Content warning: execution
At the end stands an ancient tower called the Mihulka, or the White Tower, or the debtors' tower, round on the moat side. An iron maiden, an instrument of torture, is said to have been kept here. From here a passage formerly ran along the top to the burgraviate, and in it was a chapel for the prisoners; and it was directly beneath that passage that the marksmen's little houses arose. In this tower too there was a lower prison, the so-called starvation pit, accessible only by a round opening above, through which the prisoners used to be lowered.
