In the fifteenth century the town hall is recorded as having a great hall on the upper floor, shops or cellars at ground level, and below, on the side towards Vodičkova Street, a lock-up with a torture chamber. It was there that the councillor Řehák the fuller hid in 1419 when the people were throwing councillors from the windows; but they found him even there and killed him. Two cells of that prison bore the names of their first inmates — Soup and Blood-Sausage.
