The Bell That Rang of Itself
Pankrác
On 3 November the priests led a solemn procession of the people of Prague, with the Blessed Sacrament under a canopy, to the church of Saint Pancras, to give thanks there for the victory. From that time, probably, arose the tale of the miraculous bell in the tower here: whenever some misfortune was approaching the people of Prague, that bell is said always to have stirred and sounded of its own accord. It lasted until 1624, when the Jesuits received the church into their charge and took the bell down and carried it away.
