The Hand with the Sword in the Platýz Gateway
Platýz
Plateys, a zealous Catholic, signed against Ferdinand in 1618 only under compulsion; he died suddenly at the time when the directors are said to have meant to execute him. In his son's time, in 1626, the house was raised by imperial favour to the rank of a privileged house, freed from taxes and granted a free tavern. Years ago there is said to have been a board in the Platýz gateway with an inscription and a depicted hand holding a sword, as a sign of the special right of the lords of that house; from the gateway it was afterwards moved to the first floor.
