The church of Saint Wenceslas stood as early as 1180 and was a parish church at least from 1278; before that a chapel built by one Lord Bohuš is said to have stood here. In 1420 the Hussites destroyed the Zderaz monastery, but the church of Saint Wenceslas survived. When the monastery was dissolved in 1783, the church deconsecrated and everything in it sold off, the pictures included scenes from the life of Saint Wenceslas by Karel Škréta — who is said to have hidden in that monastery for a whole year after mortally wounding his opponent in a duel.
