Father Plachý's Leaves
Staroměstská mostecká věž
The Swedes took the tall Father Plachý and his students for sorcerers who could make themselves untouchable by some charm. According to the notes of the city scribe Zatočil, a captured Swede told Plachý that he was said to give his students certain leaves to eat which protected them from bullets. Plachý laughed heartily, had a good large loaf of bread brought in, handed it to the Swede and said: “These are the leaves I give my students every day.”
