Five Kingfishers for the Honest
Staroměstská mostecká věž
The kingfisher was a favourite emblem of Wenceslas IV and at the same time the sign of the bathhouse keepers; from this arose the legend of Zuzana the bathwoman who saved the king. The birds appear on the tower within a towel twisted into a knot. A fifth kingfisher, likewise in a knotted towel, stands apart, turned towards the Lesser Town — and people used to say in jest that only an honest man can see all five.
