Why the Botič Was Called the Wine Brook

U Botiče

Historically
Botič, druhdy zvaný Vinný potok
Told by
Václav Krolmus, Staročeské pověsti

In olden days a peasant from Vršovice was grinding his corn at the Nusle mill on Christmas Eve, and at midnight he stepped up to the Botič brook and drank from it. Then he noticed that what he had drunk was not water but wine. He told the others waiting to grind; they heard him out, ran to the brook, drank and satisfied themselves that their companion had spoken the truth. From that time on they called the Botič the Wine Brook.
