The Priest Who Would Not Leave His Supper
Úvoz
A priest from Strahov was once called out at night to a sick man; but he was loth to leave his supper, and only after an hour or so did he ride down this street to the sick man's house. On the way his horse stumbled, the priest fell and broke his neck — in punishment for letting a dying man go before God without the last rites. Ever since, his ghost rides down the Úvoz every Friday night with a great clatter of hooves, until the children in the houses burrow into their featherbeds in fright.
