House number 28 is wholly shaded from the west by the tower beside it; they say that neither sun nor moon shines into its windows the whole year round. A man endowed with magical power is said to have lived here — but only for so long as his daughter should not fall in love. When therefore he once caught her at the window with a young man, he killed them both. Their blood dripped into the Stag Moat, and since then bleeding-heart has grown there beneath the window. And the murderer, so as not to be betrayed, washed his bloodied hands in a vessel on which the moon was shining at that moment — and since then neither moon nor sun will look upon that window at which a father stabbed his daughter.
