They Shot at Them Down in the Moat
Pražský hrad
The lords in the castle saw that the men they had thrown out were still alive, and shot at them — but not one of them was even wounded. Then Fabricius was the first to flee, by way of Špitálsko to Olšany, where his friend Loštický entertained him at his farm and helped him escape to Vienna. Meanwhile the servants of the two lords came here, knowing the way down into the castle moat, and with their help Martinic got by ladder into the Lobkowicz Palace, although they were still shooting at him even there; the same servants carried Slavata there too. That none of those thrown down perished either by the fall or by the shooting the Catholics proclaimed a miracle — while the Utraquists said it had happened by sorcery.
